Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka could be the subject of another approach from Roma during the summer transfer window.
The Switzerland international reportedly agreed personal terms with Jose Mourinho‘s side last summer, but they could not negotiate a suitable fee.
As such, he ended up signing a one-year extension on his Gunners contract until June 2024, but there remains speculation regarding his future.
Xhaka has been a key player for the Gunners since his injury return, but Calciomercato claims that he could still be tempted to join Roma.
The midfielder is a firm admirer of Mourinho. It is reported that the Portuguese has urged the hierarchy to make a fresh move this summer.
Meanwhile, Roma signed Ainsley Maitland-Niles on loan from the Gunners in January, but have no plans of pursuing a permanent deal.
Maitland-Niles has been an unused substitute for the past two league games. Mourinho is not entirely convinced over his performances.
The Gunners graduate could still be sold on his return. He reportedly has no plans of extending his current deal which expires in June 2023.
